Launching in 2015
Health coaching is a combination of clinical skills plus behaviour change that guides and prompts a patient to be an active participant in their care management. It aims to raise awareness of the patient for their own health through a change in the clinician/ patient relationship. Coaching in this instance is based on patient defined goals and patient choices and exploration of their decisions and their accountability for the decisions they have made.
We have identified our sites to pilot this Programme in commencing early 2015. These areas include a Mental Health Trust and two CCGs in Kent and Sussex. Discussions are currently taking place as to how the pilot may work and how health coaching would work in their organisation. It is anticipated that the Health Coaching initiative plan will be formulated by February 2015 and plans to start training and roll out after April.
